Welcome to the world of Social Studies, Writing, and Religion!
My name is Mr. Hole and I am here to lead you through the history of the world, starting with Prehistory and ending with modern day Washington state, while touching on almost everything in between. As we move through middle school, we will be on our journey through time.
In sixth grade we cover prehistory vs history and ancient civilizations, including Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, China, Japan, Greece, and Rome!
In seventh grade explore the Byzantine Empire, Vikings, Medieval Europe, The Renaissance, Meso America civilizations (Olmecs, Mayans, Aztecs, and Incas), and exploration and colonization of the New World.
Our final year, in eighth grade, we will learn about the 13 British colones, the American Revolution, the Constitution, the US government, and end our year with Washington State history!
Along with social studies, I also teach writing for 7th grade. In writing class we cover grammar starting with the parts of sentences and finish writing complete research and compare/contrast essays in MLA or APA citation. There is a great mixture of learning new concepts in class and practicing them with projects!
Finally, I teach religion for 8th grade. Throughout the year we will cover the history of the Church and how she has changed since her foundation. We will learn about how mass has evolved, how the Church has interacted with the world, and design our own churches/cathedrals!
